Even if there’s no updated version available, VS Code still tries to update. #328333

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes/No

  • VS Code Version: 1.131.0 (e4c7e7b)
  • OS Version: Windows 11 26200.8875

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open VS Code, and you will see this:

  1. After a while, you’ll see an error message pop up:
C:/Users/.../AppData/Local/Programs/Microsoft VS Code/e4c7e7b7d6/d3dcompiler_47.dll

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile failed; Error code 5.
Access denied.

→ Retry (T)
→ Skip this file (not recommended) (S)
→ Close the installer
  1. If you choose “Close the installer”, it will appear every time you start VS Code.
