I'm an Associate Professor at the <a href='http://www.ic.uff.br'>Instituto de Computação</a>
at <a href='http://www.uff.br'>UFF</a>, having held the position of Director between 2021 and 2024.
I earned my B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at <a href='http://www.puc-rio.br'>PUC-Rio</a> and completed postdoctoral research at <a href='https://www.nyu.edu'>New York University</a> in 2015 and 2018, focusing on Urban Data Visualization.
I am a Productivity Fellow of CNPq (level C) and a FAPERJ Scientist.
I served as SIBGRAPI's general chair in 2017, program chair in 2019 and Computers & Graphics chair in 2025.
Currently, I am an Associate Editor of the Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society. I have was a member of the <a href="https://sibgrapi.sbc.org.br/about-cegrapi/">Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics, Pattern Recognition and Image Processing</a> of the Brazilian Computer Society in 2020-2021 and 2024-2025.
I have published over 50 articles in high-impact journals and conferences, including IEEE TVCG, Computers & Graphics, and IEEE VIS, with award-winning papers presented at international events.
My research on data visualization has been featured in outlets such as <a href='https://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2016/10/22/listen-to-the-music-of-the-traffic-in-the-city'>The Economist</a> and <a href='https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/12/21/upshot/Mapping-the-Shadows-of-New-York-City.html'>The New York Times</a>.
