G19 boots but cant control keyboard

Hoping it's just a silly installer mistake. I am noobish with linux.

Running Ubuntu 24.04.3LTS

I installed the applet via .deb package you provided.
After a restart I can run the applet, it pops up in the top right of the screen by the clock-ish.

I click it and click show.

From there I changed the M1 to orange backlight, Re programed some G keys to trivial keys to test with in a word doc. Yet my M keys are still unlit, colour of backlight unchanged, and gkeys not programmed.

is this possibly as simple as i needed to install the gnome15 or need to install a driver to pair with this?

What can I provide for more information, to get some help here? God i miss my keyboards functions. hopped off the windows ship a year or so ago and been missing the ability to control my G19 and G700mouse ever since.

You don't need to install any drivers for this to work.

You can only link the he g-keys to commands. Not to a letter on the keyboard.

It is better to build and install it from source. But if you can already open the UI, then it should work.

What does the terminal outputs when opening g19daemon from there?

Thinking form terminal it's because I don't have it installed correctly/ have it being able to read/write properly

full whip and re-install have it working to a degree. Tho if I mess up a command in the G key programming the applet locks up. Tho not an issue, just a close and restart.

Now I'm just fudgin around with xte or xdotool to provide me with a way to remap the g keys to press key's/combo's

I do appreciate your applet, and the work you put into it. keepin this old girl alive. Maybe one day Logitech will do a refresh on this keyboard and remake it with mechanical keys.

I was planning to add key mappings to it in #31
But did not had the time to look into it.

Do you still have error messages in the terminal that some files are missing? Otherwise you can install them manually using your package manager.

Did you try to build it yourself. Deb file does not fully work on newer Debian/Ubuntu versions because of library name changes.

Well i tried yes, but my main goal was macros/gkeys making, well, macro's and key combo's into one key.

Also got the hardware monitor to work fully on Linux. Just thought yea may want to check it out.
