For anyone interested in this feature I ported it to 6.12.13:

And made a fork of the Arch Linux 'linux-lts' package source as it seemed the most convenient way to build a compatible version of the module.

I mostly wanted to reduce the tap sensitivity and that seems to work fine (the haptic feedback changing also works).
