BackgroundTask] Background Task 11 ("Called by ModernAVPlayer, from $s14ModernAVPlayer17LoadingMediaStateC14contextUpdatedyyF"), was created over 30 seconds ago. In applications running in the background, this creates a risk of termination. Remember to call UIApplication.endBackgroundTask(_:) for your task in a timely manner to avoid this.

This is message log i got from Xcode. I suppose that the song has been loading too long but there was no response and the background task is still running.

Each time a startBackground task is created, the expiration handler is set to end the task as specified here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uiapplication/1623051-beginbackgroundtask

from your log, we talk about the function startBgTask() in LoadingMediaState.swift
endBackgroundTask should be called

so I try to see when it could not be called:

• you are loading a media
• media is loaded so you move to LoadedState.
• then you just stay in this state. no play, no pause..

Is that your context ?

I definitely should stop the background task in LoadedState as I do in PlayingState. No more task is done at this point..

What do you think ?

@raphrel thanks so much for your fast response.

In my case a song has been in the loading progress, because some of reason such as the network connection is slow, the source provider is not responding.

The log message of the background task has been fired then, my solution is a timer counting. In this case, the media has not switched to any state. After thirty seconds, we can consider force to fail and ending background task

hey,

as I mentioned, the expiration handler of startBackgroundTask is set to end the background task when expiration is going to happen. so no timer is needed here.

in my opinion, the only explanation is you moved to the loaded state and never play (this is where I stop the background task..)

My player just stops playing after 30 seconds

I started to implement your ModernAVPlayer and everything is going well except this problem.
I'm getting this problem too often. I mean at least one time per session.

Does someone fixed this problem?
What do you suggest?
