Expected Behavior

Git will play smoothly, like same gif in Media Source, or like in web browser.

Current Behavior

GIF freezes every second for 1 second

Steps to Reproduce

1. Drag'n drop GIF №1 or №2 in OBS window.
2. Notice how animation freezes every second

After converting GIF with imagemagick, it works fine, but since EmoteLab becoming more and more popular, more similar issues will appear. Also issue is not limited to Linux, Windows version 32.1.2 has this behavior.

I don't know why this happens, but if you use a media source instead of an image source, you won't have that issue.

That's true, but my plugin depends on built in OBS image rendering, so it has similar issues too, and i'm not sure if i can fix it.

How to enable more verbose log messages? I don't see similar messages in console.

You don't need to have something assigned to you to work on it (and we don't really use assignees with github that way for non-core members). This is likely fixed by simply updating libnsgif. See #11178. However, that PR stalled out due to ABI breakage on updates and would need to be resolved. I'd prefer efforts were spent there first, as we're pretty sure that just updating the library will resolve this.

I did some investigation and this is indeed a bug inside our very old version of libnsgif, and fixed by the above linked PR to update it to a newer version.

That PR will likely have to wait for our next Major release, which will be v33
