I'd consider porting the docs conda environment to Pixi as an extra docs feature, and then setting up a pre-commit to export the conda environments from pixi - I do this in Pablo. This enforces a single source of truth: the pixi manifest. Also makes building docs locally easier as you can just make it a task. But this may be out-of-scope
