Contributor Covenant Code of Conduct

OpenPit adopts this Code of Conduct as an adaptation of Contributor Covenant 3.0.

Our Pledge

We pledge to make participation in the OpenPit community welcoming, safe, and equitable. Everyone who participates in good faith and follows this Code of Conduct receives the same opportunity to contribute, regardless of identity, background, experience, ability, beliefs, or social and economic status.

Encouraged Behavior

Community members are expected to:

  • Respect the purpose of the project and its community spaces.
  • Communicate kindly, honestly, and professionally.
  • Respect different viewpoints, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Give and receive constructive technical feedback gracefully.
  • Take responsibility for mistakes and repair harm when possible.
  • Credit the people and sources behind contributed work.
  • Act in ways that support the safety and well-being of the community.

Restricted Behavior

The following conduct is not acceptable:

  • Harassment, intimidation, stalking, threats, or sustained disruption.
  • Insults, character attacks, discriminatory statements, or stereotyping.
  • Sexualized language, imagery, attention, or advances.
  • Ignoring an explicitly stated personal boundary or request to stop.
  • Publishing or acting on private information without permission.
  • Impersonation or attempts to evade an enforcement action.
  • Promotion of violence or other conduct that endangers community members.
  • Commercial promotion that is unrelated to the purpose of the community.

Reporting an Issue

Report possible violations privately to maintainers@palchukovsky.com. Include relevant context, links, dates, and participants when it is safe to do so. Do not open a public issue if doing so could expose a reporter, affected person, or private information.

Maintainers will investigate reports promptly and handle enforcement privately with the involved parties. They will protect confidentiality and safety as far as possible while gathering the information needed for a fair decision.

If a report concerns the maintainer responsible for enforcement, use the abuse or moderation channel of the platform where the incident occurred. An uninvolved maintainer may also handle the report when one is available.

Addressing and Repairing Harm

When a violation is confirmed, maintainers may use the following enforcement ladder. A serious incident may begin at a later step.

  1. Warning - a private explanation of the violation, the expected change, and an appropriate repair such as an acknowledgement or apology.
  2. Temporary limitation - a time-limited restriction on particular interactions or community channels.
  3. Temporary suspension - removal from community spaces for a defined period, with conditions for returning.
  4. Permanent ban - removal from community spaces when repeated or severe behavior makes continued participation unsafe.

Maintainers may remove comments, issues, pull requests, documentation changes, or other contributions that violate this Code of Conduct. Platform moderators may be asked to enforce restrictions that require platform-level access.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies in all OpenPit community spaces, including issues, pull requests, discussions, documentation, community calls, and other project-related channels. It also applies when someone officially represents the project in public, including through an official account or an appointed project role.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from Contributor Covenant 3.0. Contributor Covenant is stewarded by the Organization for Ethical Source and licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
