Description

Purpose

This is a storytelling approach inviting new audiences to Plone and the upcoming World Plone Day 2026 on April 16.

What

Using 7 subsequent Social Media posts each taken as one particular audience perspective from an article taking an outside view on and from target groups involved using Plone.

The article takes an editorial outside perspective on a post written originally in german for Plone.de and soon be available in english on community.plone.org as translation.

How

In close discussion with Astrid and others Armin plans to publish the referenced story "The Quiet Giants" on Linkedin first under his account to keep the external perspective and has already mirrored the content to plone.org internally for review.

We can then reference and share that and the outtaken posts to play the drum every second day of the four weeks remaining until WPD always referencing the whole story.

Where

The article will be moved to a location on plone.org in a marketing/sandbox folder that can be reached per link but is excluded from navigation, search and in the robots.txt (whole bump folder).

Availability for those without login and permission?

Status: Waiting for settings in robots.txt and only then publish

Social media publication via Buffer

Armin and Astrid are working on 7 subsequent posts with opener tile, content tiles and call to action tile to invite to WPD.

  • Armin Creating the tiles and text takeouts
    • Armin creates the tiles in Penpot.app similar to Figma but Open Source and exports as PNG (SVG available)
    • Armin received the WPD Artwork via Rikupekka and is in touch with René via Guido
  • Astrid is preparing scheduling on Buffer
    • Allowing Armin to save directly in Buffer as draft/idea needs elaborated access (not available yet)

Why BUMP?

We discussed at the Bucharest sprint to release the proposal as an PLIP, but got a feedback from @ericof that using the label PLIP will put confusing overload to the developer side of the game, so we user BUMP as an interims label until a final decision how to call that and keep the brand story stuff seperate from the product development coding journey and roadmap.

Update: Other like to just use "Plone Proposal", but this spoils the fun, because it is not changing Plone, just the Experience should be boosted (bumped).

Brand Update Milestone Proposal = BUMP

This can be changed at any time.
