Touchscreen compatibility

I know there was some conflict between OS touchscreen interpretations. It sure would be great to be able to have iPad-like interactions in other OSes, though (particularly Linux, but if solving it solves Windows too, that seems OK, and MacOS doesn't have inbuilt touchscreen capabilities anyway, since that seems to have rolled into an iOS-only feature).
