Dakota Installer

TUI/gum installer my jumpyvi.

To be shipped on a a bluefin:stable live ISO. This is to enable people to test Bluefin itself, the desktop, parity bugs, etc.

That way we can fix the payload while we wait for a long term graphical solution.

I would be interested in making a GUI installer forking from VanillaOS.

I would remove recipes, albius, custom partitions and everything we don't need.

I was able to create a bootable disk with it.

Would this be a good option, or should we consider other options like anaconda or proto-installer?

IMO the TUI installer is a good first step. I'd ship that one and then do this as a 2.0. Let's just make sure we respect the Vanilla brand and not ship it until it's de-logo'ed.

If this all works great then this looks awesome to me! Gives me a reason to go talk to the vanilla folks and check in.

We should be clear up front though that the endstate is the GNOME OS installer though, ultimately we want to ship their stuff over our custom things. Thanks for working on this!

LUKS works now, a few bugs are remaining and a lot of branding changes need to be done.

It now has feature parity with the TUI.

Functionality wise I'm as done as I can be, now that bootc as been updated.

I just need some art and packaging.

For now there is no keyboard selector, the vanilla one made the installer lag quite a bit
There might be a few weird things with sudo, but I don't think it will be an issue on the LiveISO
I'm still waiting for bootc install to be able to pull, for now you still have to build the containerfile before running the installer

We went with Tuna for Dakota. We'll keep checking how it works with fedora/centos.
