Snakemake for simulated commissioning and cluster integration

Simulated commissioning is a use case which fits well with the purpose of workflow managers. One tool used in other research fields is snakemake https://snakemake.readthedocs.io/en/stable/. Especially is seems to be a standard tool in bioinformatics and computational biology.

It comes with cluster integration https://snakemake.readthedocs.io/en/stable/tutorial/additional_features.html#cluster-or-cloud-execution with for example an already existing plugin for slurm https://snakemake.github.io/snakemake-plugin-catalog/plugins/executor/slurm.html.

It sounds like an in interesting option for us to explore and look at the pros/cons for the future compared to how we currently do simulated commissioning.
