Data-driven components

To allow modpack creators (like me) to add components from other mods for better integration

I won't be able to make the component behaviour data driven, so adding custom components would still require implementing it in java. But the textures and states could be made data driven, just like block states and block models are defined in resource packs. I wanted to seperate these from the component logic anyway.

Thanks for the response, is there any specific reason of why you can't make the components data-driven?

What i mean is specifically the beahaviour of components, which is implemented through code. What kind of components are you thinking about adding?

I was thinking about adding parity to Supplementaries using a datapack

I am not familiar with that mod, but i don't think you could do that purely with a datapack. I can make it more convenient to add component by making certain aspects data driven, which would help in developing mods that add to integrated-circuit, but full customizability of the components will always require some modding.
