Compass heading - going over horizon ios 9 (iphone 6s) and android (nexus 5x)

Hello when I hit the horizon line with my phone the heading freaks out for 1 or 2 seconds and then finds the heading again...

This is not true of the Marine Compass you ported some of your code from http://www.pierrox.net/cmsms/applications/marine-compass.html

I am not sure if this is a limitation of the web apis but the other compass works exactly correct do you know whats happening?
