Description

I am trying to install kali linux. I tried two things:

[14:46:51] ====================================================
[14:46:51] Linux Live Installer starting
[14:46:51] ====================================================
[14:46:51] Root device : /dev/mapper/luks-e5bce10a-337d-4d7c-b21e-fea97ece1bf6
[14:46:51] Filesystem  : btrfs
[14:46:51] Distro      : Custom ISO – kali-linux-2025.4-live-amd64.iso
[14:47:06] Disk plan approved. Strategy: other_disk_free, Target: /dev/nvme0n1
[14:47:06] Target size : 20.0 GB (19073 MiB)
[14:47:06] Custom ISO: /home/user/Downloads/kali-linux-2025.4-live-amd64.iso
[14:47:06]
[14:47:06] ━━ Strategy: use existing unallocated space ━━
[14:47:06] Using free region: 462386–488386 MiB (27.26 GB)
[14:47:06] Creating boot partition  462387–469062 MiB …
[14:47:10] Boot partition  : /dev/nvme0n1p4
[14:47:10] Linux partition : /dev/nvme0n1p5
[14:47:10] Copying ISO contents to boot partition (10–20 min)…
[14:47:10] Skipping self-referential symlink: debian -> .
[14:47:25] rsync failed: rsync: [receiver] write failed on "/mnt/linux_installer_boot/live/filesystem.squashfs": File too large (27)
rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(381) [receiver=3.4.1]

rsync: [sender] write error: Broken pipe (32)
[14:47:25] Installation aborted.

I think this is because the iso is larger than 4GB which is the max for fat32

I managed to get the other version copied but when I am in the installation phase it fails showing this error:

Image (photo is not mine, I got it from reddit but it's exactly the same issue)

I think it's worth noting that I am using LUKS encryption
