I tried this out but no events fire on page load or on page change in the browser window

I was attempting to use this to login to salesforce.com but was never getting the navigated event, so I created a quick test and the events never fire. Any thoughts, its a great idea.

Here is a demo app, the debug console output is never executed and breakpoints inside the navigated and navigating handlers are never called :
