**Hola!**

I am Sergio de las Heras, doctoral researcher in the [Technical Psychoacoustics](https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-information-and-communications-engineering/technical-psychoacoustics) group of the [Aalto Acoustics Lab](https://www.aalto.fi/en/aalto-acoustics-lab) in Helsinki, Finland.

**Education**

I began my academic journey in Madrid, where I studied my BSc in Telecommunication Technologies Engineering at [UC3M](https://www.uc3m.es). During this time, I completed my music education in clarinet at [CIEM FMT](https://www.comunidad.madrid/centros/centro-integrado-ensenanzas-artisticas-federico-moreno-torroba). I also participated in a semester-long exchange as part of my bachelors in [USYD](https://www.sydney.edu.au) in Sydney, Australia.

After obtaining my degree, I moved to Germany where I joined [RWTH Achen University](https://www.rwth-aachen.de) to study the MSc in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engineering. There, I worked as a student assistant at the [Institute of Hearing Technologies and Acoustics](https://www.akustik.rwth-aachen.de).


In early 2025, I moved to Helsinki and began my PhD in the [Technical Psychoacoustics](https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-information-and-communications-engineering/technical-psychoacoustics) group at [Aalto University](https://www.aalto.fi/en/aalto-acoustics-lab).

**Research Stays**

I also have experience in industry, in the summer of 2024 I worked as Research Intern for [Bang&Olufsen](https://www.bang-olufsen.com) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the summer of 2025, I moved Cupertino, CA to work for [Apple](https://www.apple.com) as an Audio Technology Intern.

**What else?**

The rest of my time I spend between reading, cycling, travelling, concerts and analog photography.
