🏆 Hackathon Win

We are proud to have won 2nd place in the Inter-IIT Bootcamp Hackathon for our research and innovative solutions on agriculture's role in carbon emissions. This achievement highlights the potential of leveraging technology and new farming practices to drive substantial environmental impact.

🌾 Agricultural Emissions in India

Agriculture contributes ~18% of India's total GHG emissions, primarily from:

  • Livestock 🐄: Methane from enteric fermentation (55%).
  • Rice Cultivation 🌾: Methane from paddy fields (20%).
  • Fertilizer Use 💧: Nitrous oxide (15%).
  • Crop Residue Burning 🔥: CO₂ emissions (10%).

🌍 Global Emissions Insights

Agriculture globally accounts for 19–29% of total emissions:

  • Livestock 🐄 (44%): Methane.
  • Fertilizers 💩 (36%): Nitrous oxide.
  • Deforestation 🌳 (20%): CO₂.

💡 Reduction Strategies

  • On-Farm 🌱: Precision farming, better seed varieties, and efficient water use.
  • Supply Chain 🚚: Energy-efficient processing, renewable energy, and optimized logistics.
