ToolJet is an open-source no-code platform to build and deploy custom internal applications. ToolJet is built using Ruby on Rails and ReactJS.
I built ToolJet as an alternative for closed-source internal tool builders such as Retool & Internal.io. Tools that need to have access to sensitive data should be hosted on-premises in my opinion. Also, the users should be able to go through the codebase to see what exactly the code does. Whenever a new SaaS application is introduced in an organization, the business process will have to change according to the software. If these tools are open-source, companies have the freedom to tune the software according to their needs.
ToolJet also serves as an alternative for frameworks such as ActiveAdmin and DjangoAdmin that are traditionally used for building admin dashboards. These traditional frameworks are designed to work with only one database and are closely coupled with patterns such as ActiveRecord in the case of ActiveAdmin. Extending these frameworks to work with more data sources is difficult and time-consuming. ToolJet doesn't enforce any conventions regarding data source integrations and thus is easy to integrate with any data source if the data source isn't supported already.
