issue with $.pageguide('open') when used with angularjs

I am trying to use pageguide with angular material design. I trying to use $.pageguide('open') in my script i am able to see all the number tags on the screen but not the bottom section "pageGuideMessage". It is not opening up if I trigger the $.pageguide('open') through the script.

It works perfectly fine on a button click.

Any help on this would be appreciated.
