using inputactions to replicate touchpad/mouse behavior on touchscreen only ?

Hi. I'm new to InputActions and have recently successfully configured for KDE Plasma 6.6 on a large touchscreen-only display. My goal is to configure the system as "touchscreen-first" augmenting with virtual keyboard/offline speech-to-text. I have several drawing & modeling programs that seem to be written for touchpad/mouse only input and I'm wondering if there is a way to emulate this using a touchscreen finger perhaps with a keyboard modifier to indicate when finger 1 should be cursor ? If not, any known ways to realize ?

Currently it's not possible to warp the cursor to a finger (#348), so the options are very limited. Best you could do is make the touchscreen work like a touchpad (always or only when a modifier is pressed), but that would sacrifice the ability to just click an element without first moving the cursor to it.

touchscreen working like a touchpad with a modifier would work, can you elaborate on how to realize in KDE/inputactions ? I see some references to being able to do in hyprland/sway, but nothing in KDE. Thanks

By making touchscreen triggers (hold, swipe, tap) with mouse input actions. For dragging items you could chain tap -> swipe, tap -> hold -> swipe or hold -> swipe.

Makes sense, but I never would have thought of it without you saying, thank you. I also appreciate the documentation, I've used extensively. I finally started to use a yaml-capable editor which has made a huge difference to somebody that had no experience with yaml and was using tabs.

I see that - Plasma 6.7 on Wayland will now allow optionally synchronizing the stylus pointer with the mouse/touchpad pointer if desired. Is this relevant to this discussion ?

Unless you're using a stylus, no.
