Hey Gang,
I was thinking about reverse engineering the Java SE applet within GlobalTIS, specifically the security access function. I’d port to an Android XML app and use USB-C to RS-232 (maybe OTG which will require USB permissions from Android).
From functionality standpoint, you’d plug the phone/android device into Tech2 (FTDI-FT232RL USB chipset to db9), hit “security access” button, read VIN and write security access.
From a reverse engineering standpoint, it seems pretty straightforward with Java Web Start being largely legacy technology and the “.jar” files could be extracted via FernFlower.
What are your thoughts on this?
Kind regards,
