[IDEA] Install New ESP32 - Why not have XIAO Disable Original ESP32?

Why not be able to toggle the original ESP32 on/off with the new transplant so you don't have to take it apart if there is a must have firmware for the 300S? Just have the XIAO drive a N-MOSFET or NPN (with the right resistors) that pulls EN to ground. When it doesn't pull the pin to ground, the XIAO just stays quiet (no ucontroller TX/RX overriding) and waits.

but if you run this project you dont need any new firmware.
You are running ESPHome then.
I mean its a good idea to remotely turn off the integrated ESP32.
But why would you upgrade the firmware of the integrated ESP32 that you don't even use anymore... (or isn't even turned on...)

Or do you mean to alternatively switch from cloud to local?

You can simply add something like among this to your ESPHome?

Maybe add a physical pull up resistor to prevent floating pin.

Hi,

The FW for the Vital devices was the last to update to 2.0.0, the others seem quite stable.
The main update is in the ESP32322 FW, not all updates even update the MCU FW.
As the MCU stuff is even more stable, and provides all we need , there is not really a need to update the MCU FW.

I added an HW switch to some of my devices for this => so i can test if there is a new Vital/Core version for MCU out.

The issue is that it takes forever for the device to pick up the new version....
