End-of-support for AWS SDK for Go (v1) has been announced and will be effective July 31, 2025.

Are there any plans to migrate athenadriver to use the AWS SDK for Go V2?

I noticed that the Grafana fork of this project implements aws-sdk-go-v2, so I asked them about the status of it and if/when the changes will be upstreamed to the original. Here is their response:

Hi! My team maintains this fork. We're planning to make a PR to the source after some more testing. We don't have any control over whether and when that may get merged, of course, but with the aws-sdk-go-v1 end of life coming in a few months, hopefully it happen before then.

Hey @DAcodedBEAT, any update from the folks with the grafana fork? Not sure who's you were in contact with since there's not issues in their github repo. I may just switch my own project using this to the grafana fork since it seems this project hasn't had updates in a while.
