Ansible based deployment on Windows

Question

I want to enroll vector on windows machines with ansible.

Unfortunately I didn't found anything about this, only a few older roles deploying to linux machines.

The first pitfall I ran into: When I tried to install scripted it hangs. :(

- name: Install Vector
  ansible.windows.win_package:
    path: "{{ vector_windows_msi_path }}"
    state: present
    arguments: /quiet
    chdir: "{{ vector_windows_temp_path }}"

(Download etc. worked)

Do I need other arguments for the installer? I would like to avoid using 'win_shell'.

Next: I didn't find a guide for configuring vector on windows correctly. For instance I was surprised, that no service is created, or that I need to set a data_dir which doesn't look like the default for linux.

• is there any guidance for windows configuration
• or a example for creating a windows service which is always started?
