Solution
It would be helpful to include the total demand cost and total energy cost as attributes of the optimization problem. this is just an intermediary variable + constraint before the total electricity cost calculation.
Alternatives
Instead of variables and constraints, we could form expressions (post-optimization evaluated) for the energy cost, demand cost, and customer cost. These would not affect the structure of the problem as it is but would still reflect the value of the associated charges.
