Ice and Fire Community Edition - Zapped Crash

Hello,

I recently switched to IAF Community Edition in my modpack, due to numerous bug fixes and performance improvements as the original mod hasn't been updated in years. TC Integrations is mostly working it seems, however I have run into this crash when using a tool with the "Zapped" modifier.

Would you consider supporting IAF CE? If not is there a way I can disable the compat with a datapack or something? I am trying but failing lol

I might work on this at some point. This mod has the most support requests, and I've received exactly 0 contributions. I'm really not that interested in working on it. If someone wants to submit a Pull Request with the change, I'd add it. But at this point, someone would need to sponsor the work for me to even consider it. Keeping track of IFD, which is janky and broken, is bad enough; having two janky mods now is not really what this mod was created for.

I mean the hope is with an active developer, Ice and Fire CE would be less janky and broken than the original that hasn't been updated since 2024, it fixes a lot of gamebreaking stuff. With Ice and Fire 2 announced, it's more than likely the original is never getting updated again.

Could we at least get a way to disable IFD integration in this mod?
I'd just like to be able to turn off what is broken while still keeping the integrations with other mods.

I searched through all the data folders in hopes that I could turn it off with a datapack, but it doesn't look to be possible.

Ok, I've looked into this more. I would have been able to support the IFD CE version, but they used the same mod ID while breaking the API and renaming most of the content. This means I'd be forced to support one OR the other, but there's no way to support both, since I can't tell which mod is loaded and none of the generated data Tinkers' Construct requires would work. So this means it will be permanently blocked unless you can convince the author of the CE version to change the mod's namespace (mod ID) to something unique. Given the fact that they changed the code paths to be unique (which causes this crash). They should have fully forked the mod and given it a different mod ID.

Given that 1.20.1 is several years old. I'm going to state that this isn't going to happen because of the effort required and the IFD CE community's general lack of attempts to reach out to me for any sort of collaboration or help. I'll leave this issue open, but for now, I'm treating it as a dead project given the mess it's created.
