Response sometimes echoes previous question instead of answering current prompt

Bug

Intermittently, when I type a new prompt and submit, agent-shell returns the previous question as the response — immediately, with no server round-trip delay. It appears as if the previous prompt text is being echoed back instead of the actual response.

Once this happens, the session stays in this broken state and requires restarting to fix.

Steps to reproduce

No reliable reproduction steps — it happens intermittently during normal usage. I have not been able to identify a specific trigger.

Notes

I will try to capture ACP traffic logs next time it occurs and update this issue.

I think you meant claude version here?

What about claude-agent-acp?

You can check with:

npm list -g  @zed-industries/claude-agent-acp 

Please make sure this is updated also.

Thank you both. Without traffic files, it'd be tricky to see what kind of exchange is happening between agent shell and the ACP server (claude-agent-acp).

I have not seen it recently so it might have been a claude-agent-acp bug throwing errors etc that they might have fixed... but I will keep an eye out
