Randomly searching my computer?

So, for about a week plus now, every time I launch the game (via XIV-Mac) I get a dialog box at the ""Start" screen listing 150 to 125 missing modes. Think it was with the 7.5 launch. The listing shows that it was apparently looking at a whole bunch of my files and folders and not finding any mods there and complaining about it. I actually have thousands of those. Even if I delete all these, it comes back up the next time I launch the game. Once fully launched, it seems too work as expected. Can I stop this from happening or is this a software issues /Penumbra?

Your Penumbra root directory should be managed by Penumbra. You apparently have 150 folders in that root folder that are not installed mods. You should move those folders out of the root directory if they actually contain things, or delete them if they do not. The management tab Broken Mods should be able to help you with that.

Thanks for responding. I did find a Penumbra folder here:

/Users/XXXXXXXX/Library/Application Support/XIV on Mac/installedPlugins/Penumbra

I looked in the Management tab... I have no idea what to do about choosing any locations. BUT all 125 were looking for a file called "meta.json." Looks like it's looking into my Documents folder, many but not all folders in there. I have no idea exactly where my few installed mods are living, I don't think it's in the "Penumbra" folder. Nor do I have any idea exactly what my "root folder" is located.

Please check in the Settings tab, at the very top:

Those are Wine paths though, not native macOS paths: if the path starts with Z:, the rest will be a macOS path, with slashes converted. If the path starts with something else, the translation might be more involved. (While I also use Wine, I'm on Linux and don't know how XIV-on-Mac sets it up on macOS - the XIV-on-Mac people might be able to help you with that.)

This setting should not point to your Documents or to any generic directory. It should rather point to an ad hoc directory that you'll have created on a place that's convenient with respect to your storage capacity and how many mods you want to install (and how large they are). Should it point to an inadequate directory, you can create one in a better location in your Finder, then move all the installed mods into there, and then tell Penumbra about the new one to use. (Again you can translate a macOS path to a Wine one by converting the slashes and prepending Z: - if you want cleaner Wine paths such as the X:\Penumbra that I use, you need to do some configuration in Wine - again, the XIV-on-Mac people might be able to help you with that.)

Well, I checked that setting and it DID point to my Documents folder. How that happened 2 weeks ago eludes me, it should never have randomly happened. So I looked through all the files I could and not one thing gave me any clue exactly what of the few mods I use was (so I could move them to where they should be). If you could give me some clue as to what kinds of documents they are or maybe what kind of extension, it would be easier to find them?
