An error reported as "the matrix is either rank-deficient or indefinite"

When using your fantastic package, I found that it reported the error: "Warning message: In chol.default (mat, pivot = TRUE, tol = tol) : the matrix is either rank-deficient or indefinite." I wonder why does this error occur. If possible, could you tell me how to deal with this error? I would appreciate some feedback on it. Thank you so much!
