Is it out of scope for this project to support Fennel?

I would say yes, out of scope.

Looks like there's a fennel extension but the repository link codeberg.org/mattly/zed-lang-fennel but it was last updated in ~2yrs ago (2024-08-23) and the repo link is now broken.

There's also fennel-ls.

I'm not a fennel user, but I went ahead and created https://github.com/notpeter/fennel-zed/ which supports both syntax highlighting and the lsp. On my trivial tests it supported syntax highlighting and completions.

Can you give it a whirl as a dev extension. Let me know if it works for you @jgarte or if there's any changes I should make before publishing it.
