Zed not using project-specific settings for output path

I added the required lines to the global zed settings. For my project settings, I added all the same lines, but changed the output path to what I had set for my project in vscode, verifying correct format for zed. When i put the output path I want in the global settings, it uses that path, but never uses the path if i specify it in project setings. I am new to Zed, so maybe I am missing something, but I do not know what to do.

For me it also doesn't export a PDF at all when only using project specific settings.json (exact same configuration but it works when in ~/.config/zed/settings.json and does not when in PROJECT/.zed/settings.json)

Reproduced this and traced the cause. Posting a workaround in case it helps others until a fix lands.

The Zed Typst extension's README example shows project-local config under lsp.tinymist.settings. With that key path, project-local overrides are silently dropped, and the global value wins. Switching the project-local block to lsp.tinymist.initialization_options makes the override take effect.

Reproduction

Global ~/.config/zed/settings.json:

Cmd-Q Zed, reopen at the project, save a .typ file, inspect the tinymist LSP log. The export task uses the global value:

A PDF is written despite the project-local "never" override.

Move the project-local block under initialization_options:

After Cmd-Q + reopen + save, the LSP log emits no ExportTask line at all and no PDF is written, confirming the project-local value is in effect.

Historical context

It looks like the README was switched from initialization_options to settings after #26, because at that point settings was the form that worked. The project-local plumbing for settings appears to have either never been wired up or to have regressed. The simplest fix would be to update the README example to use initialization_options (which still works for both global and project-local), or to forward the settings key path to tinymist for project-local configs as well.

I am running into this same issue with font paths, zed global settings for tinymist are respected, project local settings are not respected regardless of if I use "settings" or "initialization_options".
