bringing up the moco-oi401

Hi again!

I have a (slightly) modified version of the oi401 on my desk. Since there is no FW docu besides of the code: could you be so kind to give some tips on how to use the existing code for a simple quick check of the HW (i.e no just open loop PWM output on the pins)?

Seems that there is no specific cube project for this variant of the moco so maybe you could tell some words about where to best start of with the existing code base? Maybe the "bare" DRV8316 driver?

The easiest and fastest way is to use PlatformIO + SimpleFOC. It offers extensive docs and an active community. In fact, I first discovered the drv8316 through the SimpleFOC forums; you can search there for relevant discussion threads.

If you are looking for something more advanced, you can refer to the SC1 Cube project. It is based on the LL and implements a basic open-loop velocity control and SVPWM. Although it doesn't feature current feedback, it does include a timer synchronization mechanism.

While the project was originally designed for the sc1, both the sc1 and oi401 utilize the STM32G431xx, so porting it should be straightforward. The project structure keeps the cube mx auto generated code (within the Core folder) intact as much as possible, while custom logic is housed in a standalone User folder (with some snippets in main.c or stm32g4xx_it.c). Even though the gate drivers and other hardware components differ between the sc1 and oi401, the core algorithms and timer control logic are great references.
