Res-pective is a platform for students to share their experiences with university residences.
Every beginning of the academic year, first year students all over South Africa are taken advantage of when they are looking for residences. They fall for online marketing scams by residence landlords and are coerced into signing lease agreements without viewing the residences in person. Most often, when they arrive at the said residences, they find something completely different, but they cannot leave because they are bound by the lease agreements.
Res-pective provides a platform for university students to share their experiences about the residences they have stayed at, to help both first year and senior students make informed decisions based on real experiences rather than marketing claims.

All reviews are from students, this is to ensure that the only people who share their experiences are students. It is also to minimize fake reviews by not allowing everyone to write reviews or add residences to the platform. This achieved by checking the provided login email against the list containing all South African universities student's email domains.

Students do not have to create an account, they just attempt to log in by entering their email, if the student does not have an account, an account is created during the login process and then a login code is sent to their email, if they do have an account (they attempted to login in before and an account was created for them) they are just sent a login code.

All reviews are anonymous to prevent students from being victimized for sharing their experiences

Students can only add and review residences that are related to their university only. This is achieved by comparing the student's email's domain with the university's student email domain of the residence they are attempting to review.
