Printers Setup

This guide explains how to set up the lab printers using their static IP addresses on macOS and Windows.

⚠️ The printers use static IP addresses starting with:
130.64.X.X

You can see the exact IP address directly on the printer’s display screen
(Menu → Network → TCP/IP or Network Information).

🖨 1. HP LaserJet Enterprise P3015

IP Address: Check printer screen (starts with 130.64.X.X)

🍎 macOS Setup (HP P3015)

Step 1 — Install Driver

  1. Download the macOS driver from the HP link above.
  2. Install the driver package.
  3. Restart your Mac (recommended).

Step 2 — Find the Printer IP

On the printer:

  1. Press Menu
  2. Go to Network Settings
  3. Open TCP/IP Information
  4. Note the IP address (starts with 130.64.X.X)

Step 3 — Add Printer via IP

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences).

  2. Go to Printers & Scanners.

  3. Click Add Printer, Scanner or Fax… (or +).

  4. Select the IP tab.

  5. Enter the following:

    • Address: <Printer IP from screen>
    • Protocol: HP Jetdirect - Socket (Recommended)
    • Name: HP P3015 (Lab)
    • Location: Lab (optional)
  6. Under Use, select:

    • HP LaserJet Enterprise P3015
    • Or choose Auto Select if listed.
  7. Click Add.

Step 4 — Test Print

  • Select printer → Open Print Queue → Print a test document.

🪟 Windows Setup (HP P3015)

Step 1 — Install Driver

  1. Download the Windows driver from the HP link above.
  2. Run the installer.

Step 2 — Find the Printer IP

Check the printer display:

  • Menu → Network → TCP/IP
  • Confirm it starts with 130.64.X.X

Step 3 — Add Printer via TCP/IP

  1. Open SettingsBluetooth & devicesPrinters & scanners.

  2. Click Add device.

  3. If not detected, click Add manually.

  4. Select:

    Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname

  5. Click Next.

  6. Enter:

    • Device type: TCP/IP Device
    • Hostname or IP address: <Printer IP from screen>
    • Uncheck: “Query the printer automatically” (if issues occur)
  7. When prompted for driver:

    • Select HP LaserJet Enterprise P3015
    • Or click Have Disk… and browse to the installed driver.
  8. Finish setup.

Step 4 — Print Test Page

  • Open Printer propertiesPrint Test Page

🖨 2. Lexmark MC3224dwe

IP Address: Check printer screen (starts with 130.64.X.X)

🍎 macOS Setup (Lexmark MC3224dwe)

Step 1 — Install Driver

  1. Visit Lexmark driver page.
  2. Search for MC3224dwe.
  3. Download macOS driver.
  4. Install package.

Step 2 — Find the Printer IP

On the printer screen:

  • Menu → Network → TCP/IP
  • Confirm it starts with 130.64.X.X

Step 3 — Add Printer via IP

  1. Open System SettingsPrinters & Scanners.

  2. Click Add Printer (+).

  3. Select the IP tab.

  4. Enter:

    • Address: <Printer IP from screen>
    • Protocol: HP Jetdirect - Socket
    • Name: Lexmark MC3224dwe (Lab)
  5. Under Use, select:

    • Lexmark MC3224dwe
    • Or choose Select Software… and pick the closest Lexmark driver.
  6. Click Add.

Step 4 — Test Print

  • Print a test document to confirm functionality.

Note: Scanning features may require Lexmark Scan software included in the driver package.


🪟 Windows Setup (Lexmark MC3224dwe)

Step 1 — Install Driver

  1. Go to Lexmark driver page.
  2. Download Windows driver for MC3224dwe.
  3. Install the software.

Step 2 — Find the Printer IP

Check the printer screen:

  • Menu → Network → TCP/IP
  • Confirm it starts with 130.64.X.X

Step 3 — Add Printer via TCP/IP

  1. Open SettingsBluetooth & devicesPrinters & scanners.

  2. Click Add device.

  3. If not found, click Add manually.

  4. Choose:

    Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname

  5. Click Next.

  6. Enter:

    • Device type: TCP/IP Device
    • Hostname or IP address: <Printer IP from screen>
  7. When prompted:

    • Select Lexmark MC3224dwe
    • Or click Have Disk… and browse to driver files.
  8. Complete setup.

Step 4 — Print Test Page

  • Open Printer propertiesPrint Test Page

🛠 Troubleshooting

Printer shows “Offline”

  • Ensure you are connected to the lab network.
  • Restart printer and computer.
  • Re-add printer using Standard TCP/IP Port (Windows).
  • Use HP Jetdirect - Socket protocol (macOS).

Cannot reach printer

Open terminal/command prompt and test:

ping "Printer IP from screen"

If no response:

  • Confirm you are on the lab network.
  • Verify the IP from the printer display.
  • Contact lab IT if issue persists.
