π¨ Severity: CRITICAL
π‘ Vulnerability: The
validate_model_requestfunction validated file extensions using.ends_with(), but failed to reject null bytes (\0). This allowed attackers to pass inputs likemodel\0.ggufwhich passes the extension check but truncates the path when passed to underlying C/OS APIs, potentially bypassing directory restrictions.π― Impact: If exploited, this could allow an attacker to read arbitrary files from the server's filesystem by truncating the file extension in a path that passes the initial validation.
π§ Fix: Added explicit rejection of null bytes in
validate_model_request.β Verification: Run
cargo test -p bitnet-server --lib security::tests::test_model_path_null_byte_rejectionto verify the fix.PR created automatically by Jules for task 10714908133883951932 started by @EffortlessSteven
