The first stable release of hal0 — the cut where the pre-1.0 caveat ends and semver proper begins. Built on the R5 rework (rc.1: flags-own-models, Hindsight-only memory, id-keyed slots, hardened installer), the preview snapshot (rc.2: 180-tool admin MCP catalog, memory MCP parity, on-demand capability slots, autoload + eviction priority), and the hardening candidate (rc.3: 38 defect fixes from the full pre-1.0 review — update-path integrity end to end, id-keyed parity everywhere, truthful memory surfaces, and a root-trust-hardened staging/activate path). Exit criteria for the GA tag: - All review-cycle issues closed with merged, red-first-tested, Codex-triaged PRs - GA verification pass green: full test suite on the tag candidate, fresh review sweep of every PR merged since the rc.3 review, and a dedicated deep review of the updater staging/activate/privileged-seam path - Deployment matrix validated on the release artifacts: rc.3 → GA in-place update (including a non-default-umask box), fresh installs on ubuntu-24.04-privileged and ubuntu-26.04-unprivileged LXC, then production - Stable channel goes live: releases/latest/download/stable.json becomes the documented fleet pointer, retiring the manual HAL0_RELEASES_URL staging workaround - Boxes that skipped rc.2/rc.3 have a documented recovery path (hal0 update --target 1.0.0)
