🎯 ShopSense – RFID-Based Navigation System for Visually Impaired Shoppers

Platform

Duration: March 2024 – May 2024

🛒 Project Overview

ShopSense is a patented RFID-based navigation system designed to empower visually impaired individuals to shop independently. By integrating RFID technology with tactile paving and real-time audio feedback, the system enhances accessibility and autonomy within retail spaces.

Designed for 3.52 lakh+ visually impaired individuals in Tamil Nadu, 4.9 million in India, and 40 million globally.

🔧 How It Works

  1. Navigation: Users follow tactile paving paths integrated within stores.
  2. RFID Detection: RFID reader identifies product tags placed along the path.
  3. Data Processing: Microcontroller fetches product data via RFID.
  4. Audio Feedback: System provides voice output using a speaker or headphone.

🚀 Features

  • 📡 RFID Integration: Detects product categories using keychain/card tags.
  • 🦯 Tactile Paving: Dual-design tactile path for intuitive navigation.
  • 🔊 Audio Interface: Real-time product descriptions via onboard speaker or 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • 🔌 Rechargeable System: Battery-powered with USB charging and compact design.
  • 💡 Microcontroller: Arduino Nano
