Please add any feedback on the data sets and services here. Eg What data sets and services are useful and what other ones would be useful to you and why? Did you find problems with any of the data sets and services? How easy was it for you to develop apps/applications/sites/services using the data sets and services and how could this be improved.

You can either enter your feedback here or do it the Envirohack Facebook page (feedback put on the Facebook page will be copied into here later).

Feedback from Geoff Shuetrim (Gaia Guide Association)

The day proved to be an invaluable introduction to the capabilities of Cesium. The prototyping done on Friday already has a rough implementation on the Gaia Guide website (see the Cesium link on the habitat maps for Galahs as an example, noting that the 20000+ observations take a little while to load from the ALA server). While more work remains to make the UI informative about data loading progress, this kind of functionality would have taken weeks to sort out without the introduction on Friday.

I was also impressed with the performance of the software used for testing whether data points lay within administrative boundaries. While not focused on the admin. boundary data set itself, I am interested in using the same technology with species habitat boundary data sets to rapidly test which species have habitat that overlaps with a user's region of interest. Hopefully that is something that can be explored further at a session next year.
