I am surprised we did not yet have it as dependency because xarray, at least for the last time, did not come per default with netcdf4
…ities with netcdf4
problems seem to have occurded becase pandas to xarray behavior has changed

I found this old branch which was not yet in a PR. I do not really recall why we started this and why it was never a PR...
@eoydvin @maxmargraf @EliaCovi Anyone remembers if this is obsolete or if we should (update and) merge it?
