The Rizvi Summer of Code (RSOC) is a student-driven open-source initiative aimed at providing practical experience in software development. It offers students an opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, collaborate with mentors, and refine their technical skills over the summer. Participants will also be provided with certification from the college once the project is completed.
Event Timeline
- Mentor Application Process: Deadline: February 25th, 2025 (for project submissions). (Closed)
- Evaluation Period: February 30th - 10th March, 2025 - Organizing committee reviews and selects promising projects. (Closed)
- Results Announcement: 10th March, 2025 - Selected projects will be officially announced. (Closed)
- Mentee Form Submission for 1st & 2nd Year Students: 11th March, 2025 - March 25th ,2025
- Online Inauguration: 26th March 2025 (Participants will be introduced to the workflow, and project details will be shared.)
- Project Start Date: April 1st, 2025.
- Project Completion Deadline: July 31st, 2025 - Participants must complete their proposed projects by this date.
- Grant Selection: Top 3 projects will be nominated for grants based on performance and impact.
Application Process
Students interested in participating must submit their project proposals through the designated Google Form (available from March 1st to March 15th, 2025). The form will be circulated within student groups:

Event Workflow
GitHub Repository Setup: 3rd & 4th-year students must transfer/clone their repositories to CodeCell and provide collaborator access. If working on open-source software, the MIT License is recommended. Central RSOC Repository: A dedicated GitHub WIKI will list all projects, their tech stacks, mentors, and updates. Online Inauguration: Participants will be introduced to the workflow, and project details will be shared. Proposal Submission Deadline: Participants will apply for projects based on their interests. Mentorship & Collaboration: Each project will be assigned a mentor for guidance.
Weekly Progress Flow Week 1: Research & finalize technical requirements. Weeks 2 - 6: Develop core features & iterate. Week 7: Testing, debugging, and refining functionality. Week 8: Complete documentation & finalize deployment. RSOC is an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their coding skills, build real-world projects, and contribute to the open-source community!
