This small script solves an issue where the GitHub bookmark favicon is not clearly visible with dark mode enabled.
The script is a local HTML page that uses a white GitHub icon and automatically redirects to GitHub.
To make this work:
-
Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/Rewzer/Github-Bookmark-Redirect.git -
Go into the project directory:
cd Github-Bookmark-Redirect
You can move the project folder wherever you want.
-
Copy the full path of the
index.htmlfile. -
In Firefox, go to ≡ > Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks or press
Ctrl + Shift + O. -
In Chrome, go to More ⋮ > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager or press
Ctrl + Shift + O. -
Navigate to the location where you want the bookmark, right-click, and select Add Bookmark... in Firefox, or Add new bookmark in Chrome
-
Type
file://and then paste the file path into the URL field.
You can set any Name, Tags, or Keyword you prefer.
- Save, and restart your browser
