The workspace divides into three zones. The Media Panel (left) holds all your imported clips, audio tracks, and effects. The Preview Monitor (center) gives you real-time playback at full resolution. The Timeline (bottom) is where everything comes together — layers stack vertically, audio sits beneath video, and every clip edge is trimable with a single drag.
If you've used DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro before, you'll be functional within minutes. If this is your first NLE, the onboarding tooltips walk you through a complete first edit in under 15 minutes.
Go to File → Export or press Ctrl+E (Windows) / Cmd+E (macOS):
- Resolution — 480p through 4K UHD
- Frame Rate — 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60
- Codec — H.264 (broad compatibility), H.265 (smaller file), ProRes 422 (macOS, lossless editing)
- Bitrate — slider from 10 Mbps to 200 Mbps
- Format — MP4, MOV, MKV
Export at 4K H.265 on a mid-range GPU typically completes 4× faster than realtime.

Does the editor work offline? Yes. The entire editing suite, all effects, transitions, and export functionality work without an internet connection. AI cloud features (cloud backups, online templates sync) are optional.
Will this conflict with an existing CapCut installation? No. This build installs to an independent directory and uses its own registry keys. Both can coexist on the same machine.
What happens with very long timelines — 2+ hour edits? Performance is stable up to around 4 hours of timeline on recommended hardware. For long-form content, enable Proxy Mode in settings (auto-generates lower-resolution proxies for smooth editing).
Made for people who care about what they put on screen.
