Cholinergic Stabilisation of Attractor Landscape Dynamics
This describes all relevant code and example data related to the analysis for the manuscript Causal evidence for cholinergic stabilisation of attractor landscape dynamics.
Here, we quantified the causal relationship between the cholinergic system in stabilising brain states in the cerebral cortex by analysing a dataset of local inactivation of the nucleus basal of Meynert with simultaneous measurement of resting state fMRI activity in two macaques (originally analysed in Turchi et al., https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuron.2018.01.032). In addition, we established that inactivation of particular nucleus basalis of Meynert subregions affected information transfer in those cortical regions that received direct anatomical projections from the nucleus basalis of Meynert. Then, we demonstrated these results in a simple neurodynamical model of the cholinergic impact on neural firing rates and slow hyperpolarizing adaptation currents.
