I’m Shivam Nagpal, a backend and distributed systems engineer focused on building reliable, high-throughput services and data platforms that stay robust and consistently perform under real-world load.
Over the years, I’ve designed and shipped systems including a high-availability distributed scheduler, large-scale event ingestion pipelines, streaming ETL with Flink, and Salesforce integrations powered by a custom durable execution engine. Along the way, I’ve worked across domains like B2B marketing automation, e-commerce, edtech, fintech, and healthcare, where I've improved latency, resilience, and cost efficiency (including multi-thousand RPS services and major infra cost reductions).
My core toolkit includes Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Vert.x, Kafka, Flink, and AWS (S3, SNS, SQS, Lambda, EMR). I enjoy working close to the “guts” of systems, including streaming pipelines, integrations, scheduling, and performance tuning, where correctness, resilience, and cost really matter.
Lately, I’ve been particularly interested in reliable and resilient systems, durable execution/workflow engines, and patterns that guarantee exactly-once behavior and safe recovery in the face of failures. I care about clear design, thoughtful trade-offs, and collaborative problem-solving.
If you would like to discuss backend architectures, streaming systems, durable execution, or technology in general, I am always happy to connect.
