Create Org Image

The org creation dialog (accessible from the "Organizations" Tab) can be used to provision a new org. This functionality only works if you have a Sumo Logic "parent org" and have it's credentials selected in the left hand credentials box.

Depending on your license you may be able to create trial orgs and paid orgs, or only paid orgs.

When creating a new org SumoToolBox provides a few options above and beyond simple provisioning:

  • Configure a subdomain: This option will configure a subdomain (custom URL) for your new org. This is recommended for customers and partners who manage multiple SumoLogic Orgs and wish to link back to orgs by name (rather than use the generic SumoLogic "service" URL.) Note that if your subdomain is already taken this will fail.

  • Create cred preset: This adds the API key for the new org to the SumoToolBox encrypted credential store, allowing you to manage the org with SumoToolBox after the provisioning is done. If you uncheck this you will have to add the API keys for this org manually if/when you wish to access it later with SumoToolBox.

  • Configure Org: This allows you to choose a SumoToolBox package to deploy to your newly created org. This is an easy way to deploy a base level of config (including users and roles) to a new org.

NOTE: All three of the above options require that the owner of the new org be the same as the owner of your API keys in the parent org. This is why selecting any of these three options causes the org owner fields to populate and become read only. If you want to use these features but ultimately want some other user to own the org it is easy to change the org owner later.
