In computer jargon, what’s the difference between a statement and a comment?
A statement is part of a program that speci es one step of an algorithm.
A comment is part of a program that contains information about the program
but has no e ect when the program runs.
What does it mean to say that a program is portable?
Portable is the ability of a program to run on more than one kind of computer.
In common English, what does the word compile mean?
Compile means to translate a program in a high-level language into a low-level
language, all at once, in preparation for later execution.
What is an executable? Why is that word used as a noun?
Exicutable is another name for object code that is ready to run on specific
hardware.It is a noun because the object code is a name for a funtion or action.When something is given a name it makes it a noun.
