# Exercise 1.1 Questions

1. In computer jargon, what's the difference between a statement and a comment?
* The difference is a statement is a line of code that is used by the computer to perform a task, while a comment is just words that are there to help explain the code and it does not interfere with the program at all.
2. What does it mean to say that a program is portable?
* Being portable means that the program is able to run on different devices or computers without many changes needed.
3. In common English, what does the word compile mean?
* Compile means translate or condense something previously unreadable for the computer to something readable and ready to be used.
4. What is an executable? Why is that word used as a noun?
* It is object code that is ready to be run. It's used as a noun because it's referring to a specific object.
