contents: write so the job token can arm auto-merge - #14
Merged
Conversation
Exercise round 3 passed every invariant (repair PR adopted, head/author verified after the API-catchup retry) and failed only on enablePullRequestAutoMerge: Resource not accessible by integration. Arming auto-merge is a contents operation — the same grant the dependabot-auto-merge workflows carry. The token still cannot push workflow files; the repair branch push stays on the deploy key.

Pull request overview
This PR updates the reusable Dependabot “sync action pin comments” workflow to request contents: write on the job token so it can successfully enable PR auto-merge (which GitHub treats as a contents-level operation), addressing the Resource not accessible by integration failure during enablePullRequestAutoMerge.
Changes:
- Update the documented caller permissions example to include
contents: write. - Change the job token permissions from
contents: readtocontents: write, with clarified inline rationale tying it specifically to arming auto-merge.

Exercise round 3 (run 30309501264) passed every invariant — repair PR #466 adopted, head/author verified after the API-catchup retry — and failed only at
enablePullRequestAutoMerge:Resource not accessible by integration. Arming auto-merge requirescontents: writeon the job token (merging is a contents operation; identical grant to the fleet's dependabot-auto-merge workflows). The token remains unable to push workflow files, and the repair branch push stays on the environment-scoped deploy key. Caller permission blocks updated to match in the re-pin PRs.
