Welcome to the VisualFitsBrowser wiki!

Function overview

The VisualFitsBrowser is a tool to help anybody working with large amounts of fits files. This could be in a lab setting, observatory environment, or downstream data reduction. There are a few key features:

  1. List all files in a directory and automatically detect the arrival of new files.
  2. Add, edit,display, and print comments for each FITS file, without modifying the content of a file.
  3. Display images in ds9, either on demand, or automatically when a new file arrives. To display a single image in ds9, double click on an image in the table view. To display a series of images in ds9, select them in the table and choose File -> Send all selected to ds9.
  4. Provide The Toolbox to quickly inspect or analyze images. At this time, the following tools are implemented:
    • Quickly browse through the primary image header.
